A Weekend in Stowe

The coolest little east coast ski town I ever did see

Paul and I just got back from a ski trip to Stowe, Vermont. We rented a car from JFK and drove the 5ish hours up. It was such a fun time and we can’t stop talking about how much fun we had! I am going to share what we did over the weekend that made it so great to give you some ideas of what to do when you go.

We got into town on Friday around dinner time and drove down the main road, Mountain Road (making Stowe extremely easy to navigate), to our ski resort Innsbruck Inn. This was the cutest little Alpine resort and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Stowe. It’s family owned and the people are so nice and care so much about their guests. After checking in, we drove down the road to Doc Ponds for dinner. This place looked cool and I love judging books by their cover so we went in. The food was bomb and we maxed out. Seriously, we probably looked like we hadn’t eaten in days. They have great food, a ton of beer options and a cool vibe. It was also very family friendly if you’re into that. After dinner we were exhausted from doing absolutely nothing but driving all day so we hit up the outdoor hot tubs at our resort and went to bed.

Saturday, we had breakfast at the Innsbruck Inn, which was included with our stay. I cannot express enough how good this breakfast was. Paul said it was his highlight of the trip. I ate so much he basically had to roll me out to the car after. We packed up our ski stuff and hit the slopes. Well, the bunny hill initially so I could get used to skiing again. But then I graduated to the green slopes and eventually the blues! We had so much fun. I got tired eventually and went to go sit in the chalet to have a few beers with strangers at the bar while Paul went on the big boy slopes. Eventually when he was done, we went to Matterhorn for après ski. It won an award from USA today for the best après ski bar in America! It was a $3 cover charge to get in because there was a live band who was killing it. We were starving after such a long day of skiing so we once again maxed out. Since Vermont is known for their hard cider, we went to Stowe Cider after to try a flight of ciders and then back to the resort again for hot tub and sleep.

On Sunday we woke up, ate, skied all day and then stopped by The Bench on our way out of town. The food was unique, locally sourced and really good. We saved room for dessert and popped by the Ben & Jerry’s Factory for some ice cream and to pay our respects at the Flavor Graveyard. Afterward, we made the drive back to the city and ended our lovely weekend in Stowe!

It was short and sweet but very worth the drive! I already can’t wait to go back!
